Like anything, it is best to know what you are letting yourself in for before you commit to it.  We invite you to come along and see for yourself what we offer.  We will do a free assessment of your child's strengths and weaknesses and show you how we would tailor an individual programme to meet their needs.

Individual Attention is Key

All aspects of both Maths and English are covered using unique, proven resources that match the school curriculum. As well as the full Maths curriculum from Prep to Year 10, the NumberWorks'nWords English programme offers children a chance to develop skills in reading, comprehension, spelling and writing.

NumberWorks'nWords succeeds because students are taught as individuals by specialist tutors in each subject that know how to make it fun! All students have goals set and regular progress reports are given to parents along the way.

Tips for parents for Term Three

Term Three is a critical time for students facing a transition to middle or high school at the end of term four. Testing is often done in term four that is used as a basis for recommended placements for the next year.  It is important to make sure that student knowledge bases are sound in term three to ensure a positive student attitude to these tests in term 4, and a performance indicative of your child's true ability in the testing.

It is also noteable that a child who finishes a school year with a positive attitude toward their learning and faith in their skills is more likely to begin the next school year with less anxiety, less stress, and more confidence.  This confidence assists in settling into a new class, new friendships and dealing with transitions such as a change of teacher, teacher expectations, or schools.

Term Three  is also important to Year 8,9,and 10 students for similar reasons.  If the basic skills taught during the school year are not in place for term four, it is very difficult to rectify missing skills, improve ability, and boost self-confidence in the few weeks before term 4 exams.

If you have had feedback from half year reports that causes you concern, you think your child is doing well but is in the mid-year doldrums and could use some extension, your child's teacher has indicated specific skills that are lacking, then now, Term Three,  is the time to act and to ensure that they have the best chance possible of coping with the new level of work and expectation in 2011.

We have been career educators and are proud to be the owners of the Burleigh NumberWorks'nWords centre.

Teaching has enabled us to indulge our love of travel – we spent 16 years teaching a wide range of expatriate children from Australia, New Zealand, Britain, Canada and the USA in exciting places like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Germany, and Korea.

We are also avid readers, keen skiers, love the water, and are budding golfers.

Our aim at Burleigh is to use our years of experience teaching many different levels, to provide a source of tuition that helps individual children maximise their abilities in English and Mathematics, and have fun while they do it.
