Fast Facts Cup

Term 2 2010 Fast Facts Subtraction: students improve speed and accuracy. The fastest student will receive a trophy, as will the biggest improver. It's fun and motivating! This is a great way of ensuring students are applying the mental strategies they've learnt.  Racing to beat your own Personal Best time is a proven way of motivating those who struggle with speed.

Some children can read all the words, but have trouble working out the meaning. Others grasp the general meaning, without being able to read many of the words. As they progress through school, both these types of readers will experience frustration. Particularly when they move from 'learning to read' to 'reading to learn'. It is never too late to seek help, but sooner is better than later!

We use problem solving programs to continue to enhance our students’ abilities to solve problems. Problem solving is not just about fixing a problem but also about using the most effective tool to do the job. The software encourages careful thought and organisation, showing working and getting the right answer the right way.

Z enrolled at the start of 2008 with a final exam result of 49% last year. She knew she needed some help to get a decent result in her School Certificate this year. She just received her first school assessment mark and it was 88%. When I suggested that she was "quietly delighted" she responded "Actually I nearly fainted! I've never got such a high maths mark in my life".

My name is Keren Wahnon and I first started working at NumberWorks Bondi Junction in 2002 as a tutor. I am now the manager here and love it. My background is in Primary Education and I am really enjoying the fact that I now get to teach older students as well.

I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, usually enjoying some sort of scrumptious meal and a good laugh. I love to read and you will often find a book in my bag (if not two) no matter where I am.

Hi, I'm Sally Warren. I am the owner of NumberWorks Bondi Junction and the person you speak to if calling in the morning.

I qualified as a primary school teacher in 1983 and taught maths in Canberra high schools for several years before travelling the world. I joined NumberWorks as a manager in 1991. In 2005 my family made a sea change to the Illawarra, opening the Wollongong centre.

I love my job. The NumberWorks'nWords program has enabled me to help thousands of students achieve goals and learning outcomes that they never believed possible. It's all done with the right combination of serious teaching, confidence building and FUN. I am a Learning Links teacher and a member of the Australian Tutoring Association.

I have 3 gorgeous children ranging in age from 16 to 5. When I'm not working I enjoy cooking, reading, gardening, watching my kids play soccer and hanging out on the beach.
